Bullet Proof was the original name considered for invincible, he was then added as a separate character at a later date.

It might make sense for him to take over the role given that they seem to share similar powers, also the fact that the 'new' invincible is a black character would support this view, we don't know anything about him really, so this might be a good way of expanding his back story.

Well if the current storyline is any indication Invincible may very well be incapable of being on earth...

I don't think the *new* Invincible is going to be the focus of the comic point forward, but instead just another supporting character. I believe I heard somewhere it was the existing character Bullet Proof somewhere.
