Action Comics was canceled in August 2011 this particular series is NOT Action Comics but rather a replacement series which should have another name. Two thumbs DOWN!

Did anyone else notice the strange character in a cloak with a red aura in this book? I have seen him in a number of other books.

This comic was worth $5.99 at least. There weren't any ads until the staples, and even after that there were barely any. I bet there are more content pages in Action #1 than there will be in Fantastic Four #600, which is $7.99.

I'm not missing the red underpants either. At all. He's a super-man. He should dress like a man.

I think I needed sarcasm tags around my "Good job, comic." line. ;-)
Getting me to want to see the main hero die is not a good thing. Trust me. I was in no way complimenting this issue.

Wow. Not only did I get to buy a copy of Action Comics #1 in my lifetime, but my favorite writer returned my favorite superhero to my favorite version of him! I've always adored Superman as he 1st appeared in Action Comics #1 way back in 1938, with abilities slightly more grounded in realism and antagonists that we us actual human in the real world can actually relate to. I really never thought I'd see the return to that Superman, and I'm almost overwhelmingly happy! All that and the biggest fix of all, NO MORE RED UNDERPANTS!!!!! Finally!

I thought this was a great start. Morrison obviously wanted to hit the ground running and he did so. His Luthor is as conniving as he was in All-Star Superman, which is a good thing, and Lois is there, biting off more than she can chew as usual, which is also a good thing. I also like that Superman's powers need to develop. His youthful exuberance was a little off-putting at first, but it grew on me, especially in the way he treated the civilians he was trying to save.

I here you, Lex is already a bad as* and I like this take on superman. I will be buying more issues of action comics to see where they go.
