Very pleasantly surprised by this book. Hawkman's strength, at the best of times, was a sense of tragic, if not downright cursed, history. But that history became suffocating in the last few years. This 1st issue starts with Carter trying to leave Hawkman behind, but the wings have other ideas. It strikes a wonderful tone, evocative in a meta way of past versions of the character, without tying him down.

Not a bad start. I'm very curious how the nth metal has developed the way it has in this issue and I really like the bad guy in the issue too.

I'm super excited to see/read this one! I've always adored Hawkman, and hated how DC kept messing up his history in the 80's and 90's. Clean slate! Finally!

I hope he finds Hawkwoman/girl and I hope that history of their past lives is still canon. I find it to be one of the more complex and emotionally driven origins/stories for any DCU characters. We'll see...

I just don't know what to think about this book. Hawkman has always been kind of a "meh" character to me. I'll read it and see what happens.
