Harry Dresden is an investigator of the supernatural, who also happens to be a wizard. His arcane powers must remain hidden from society at the behest of the White Council, a group determined to enforce the Seven Laws of Magic and prevent magical users and creatures from running amok. Dresden uses his powers to aid the Chicago Police Department when they investigate cases beyond their comprehension, but he is being watched closely by the Council due to a mysterious episode in his past.
