I started buying this title on the recommendation of a few Vertigo fans as well as the owner of my local comic book shop. I was fortunate to buy a thirteen-issue package he was selling that allowed me to catch up to the story in one sitting.
This particular issue shows our protagonist, Blythe, return to work to see that her airline company created a brand new airplane, the Hyperwing 307.
What's great about this issue is that the dialogue is so well-placed that it serves as a great jumping on point for any new readers looking for a great title to add to their Pull List. It doesn't go into heavy detail, so you'll miss the moments of Blythe being pursued by terrorists among other things, but it gets you up to speed on the purpose of the airline company she works for and how she fits into those plans.
M.K. Perker's art is absolutely gorgeous. I cannot find a flaw in it no matter how hard I try. From the scenery to the characters' facial expressions, this book is just a pleasure to look at. I often go back and look at the pictures after I'm done reading it.
The other great thing about this title is that the overall story is not divided into official arcs. There are breaking points that allow for TPB's to be published, but you won't see a "Part X of Y" label on the issue title. This makes for a full, ongoing, cohesive story.
Seriously, if you are looking for a "what's going on" type plot in your stories, coupled with beautiful art, I highly recommend this title.
