Okay, so maybe Goeff is suffering from some burn out or something. But with all the build up and excitement of the first 4 issues, the last issue feels flat and rushed.
First off, of course the art is beautiful. George Perez is still an amazing artist and that alone was worth my purchasing this final issue.
But the story was really bad, and the dialogue was the worst part of it. The annoying ranting of Superboy Prime reached new lows, barely making sense. It was draining to read such drivel.
And forget about any excitement that may have been felt over the course of the first four issues. Each scene is resolved so quickly it's barely coherent. Characters are brought in from multiple universes and no one blinks an eye. Some decide to stay with the main version of the Legion, and no one thinks it's weird?
The resolution to Prime's story is also fairly flat. It would have been so much cooler to have the 3 sun boys turn the sun red, and then have the Legion pummel Prime into submission. Instead... well... you have to read it to believe it.
I expected a lot better from Johns. But between this, Flash:Rebirth, Superman's Origin, Blackest Night, and Adventure Comics, I can see how he might be a little burnt out.
