Description

Started in April 2008, CHALLENGERS is a comic store dedicated to one idea: reading comics is really pretty awesome. Okay, it's not curing cancer or ending injustice, but MAN! Have you read Immortal Iron Fist? Or Spider-Man Loves Mary Jane? Or Umbrella Academy? Or Swamp Thing? Or Scott Pilgrim? Or Green Lantern? Those books are crazy good! Plus, I'm not sure we'd be really good at ending injustice. Like, do we need a permit for that? Or reflective stickers on our jackets? We'd need jackets, too, I guess. We're a little better at recommending comics and talking with folks about said comics, so we'll probably just stick with that.

Visually striking and aesthetically gorgeous, Challengers definitely doesn't feel like most other comic shops. The staff is friendly and extremely knowledgeable. My only regret is that I don't live closer to Humboldt/Wicker Park or I would go there a lot more. Otherwise I consider it to be the standard by which all other comic shops should be judged.

Have been going here for a few years now, the one thing that has not changed in my life is the comic shop i go to (even now as i live very far away). Best there is, was and ever will be.

Unique without being strange or uninviting. A great retail space and staff for any retailer, let alone a LCS.

This is one of the coolest stores I have ever been to - great selection, knowledgeable staff, and overall just a lot of people who love comics. If you are anywhere near the area this needs to be your LCS.

Best Store I have ever been in. Period. While lots of other shops are done really well, Challengers combines passion, hard work, professionallism, and friendliness into an awesome red and white package.

For what it's worth, every time I've brought someone new here they've later commented to me that they didn't feel singled out for being a non-obsessive fan or (heavens!) a woman. This is a good thing.
