Description

Fantom Comics was established in 2005 with twin goals. One: to offer a wide selection of comic books, graphic novels and manga to current comic book fans. Two: to do our best to introduce these under appreciated art forms to the public at large. Fantom Comics is an open, inclusive store that welcomes people who've never read a comic book in their lives. So whether you're a fan who want to talk comics, or a novice who wants to learn comics (or just look for the right gift for the fan in your life), our employees are there to help you.

I remember going to them since they were based in Tenleytown. The location may have changed, but the staff is as friendly as ever. They have a very good selection of the latest comics and most often know about all of the latest series, as well as trying to find that one arc that they have in TPB. Great store.

Love this place. Selection is good but if they don't have something, they'll order it for you. I've been a regular here for 2 years and agree, I usually leave with more stuff than intended. The people who work there are knowledgeable too. They know all the big story lines and a lot of indie stuff too. Just ask and they'll recommend awesome titles you wouldn't have heard of otherwise. DC and especially Vertigo are preferred at Fantom but that's because the companies are putting out great stuff.

This store opened when I was a freshman at nearby American University. 4 years later and I'm still coming. They surprise me with interesting finds and most Wednesdays I leave with more than what's in my subscription file. It's a small store but the clientele is an interesting mix of college/high school kids and middle aged policy wonks. DC is the big favorite here, so maybe there's something to be said about people who work for the government and classic superheroes.
