I kind of understand why so many "burned" this, because it's mostly just an "old" Spider-man story retold (retconned?). But the new bits are really good and I think it's just a precursor to the rest of the story. I'm confident that the second part is going somewhere good with this and just wanted to make sure the dilemmas dealt with here our fresh in our minds. Also, Mary Jane is drawn slightly weird to me in this (in the modern sections). Even though she looks great, it almost doesn't look like her to me.
